The Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General YK Joshi on Wednesday assured full support to ex-servicemen and war widows during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command (GOC-in-C) interacted with ‘Veer Naris’ and veterans after laying a wreath to ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ and paying homage to the martyrs at the Warrior’s Grove War Memorial, Crossed Swords Division, at Akhnoor as part of ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ celebrations.
Lt Gen Joshi was accompanied by Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, General Officer Commanding of White Knight Corps, who briefed him on the chronicle of brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. A documentary was also screened for the audience about it.
Lt Gen Joshi who himself is a war hero and Vir Chakra awardee applauded the veterans for their precious services to the nation and expressed deep gratitude for the sacrifices of the Veer Naris. He also acknowledged the contribution of the people of J&K, who played a pivotal role during various operations.
He motivated them to take maximum benefits from the facilities rendered by the Army at their doorstep including Covid Care Facilities, Covid vaccination, Covid preventive measures, and government schemes.
