Economic Explosives Limited (EEL), a private defence manufacturer, has developed the first indigenous drones and loitering munition systems.
The systems are billed to be better suited to the terrain along all the Indian frontiers. According to EEL, the company’s production costs would also be significantly lower than what the armed forces import at present. The Indian Army presently has similar systems imported from Israel and Poland.
The Nagpur-based company has also built anti-drone missiles, which can fire a salvo and take on a swarm of drones well before it can strike.
These systems were also shown to Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, who visited the facility of the company on Monday.
EEL is an entirely owned subsidiary of Solar Industries Limited (SIL) headed by Satyanarayan Nuwal.
