
Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh was born to Shri Udham Singh and Smt Gurinder Kaur. He hailed from Veinpoin village in the Taran Taaran district of Punjab. Naib Subedar Paramjit was recruited into 22 Sikh of the Sikh Regiment. In 2017, Naib Subedar Paramjit’s unit was posted in the Poonch district of J&K.

On 1st May 2017, information from intelligence was received that Pakistani troops had intruded into India in the Krishna Ghati sector in the Poonch district and planted landmines. A joint team of the Indian Army and BSF was formed to launch an operation and Naib Subedar Paramjit was also a part of that team. The joint team reached the suspected area and Pakistani special forces were already there under the cover of artillery. As the Indian security forces were looking for landmines, the Pakistani troops attacked two Forward Defence locations (FDL) with rockets. In the ambush by Pakistan troops two Indian soldiers got left behind and one of them was Naib Subedar Paramjit. They killed him brutally and later his mutilated body was recovered.
The courageous soldier is survived by his parents, wife, two daughters, and a son.
