North Korea tests cruise missiles claims South Korea

In its fifth round of weapons launches in January, North Korea launched two suspected cruise missiles on Tuesday, according to South Korean military officials.

An official, in anonymity, said South Korean and US intelligence officials were analyzing the launches, but didn’t provide further details. Another military official said that the tests were launched from an island but he didn’t specify the exact location.

In veiled threats, North Korea last Thursday announced that it would resume nuclear explosives and long-range missile tests targeting the United States that were suspended by Kim Jong Un in 2018 while he initiated diplomatic relations with Washington.

According to Kim Dong-yub, a North Korean studies professor at Seoul’s North Korean University, Tuesday’s missile launch was likely a follow-up test of a missile North Korea described as a long-range cruise missile then tested in September 2021.
