Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi is on a 5-day visit to Ladakh. On Sunday, he was briefed on the prevalent security situation along the Line of Actual Control, a defence spokeman said.
This is the first visit of Lt Gen Dwivedi to Ladakh after assuming charge as the northern army commander. The senior officer was briefed by General Officer Commanding of the Fire and Fury Corps, Lt Gen A Sengupta, on prevalent security situation along the LAC, defence spokesman Colonel Emron Musavi said.
Lt Gen Dwivedi praised the corps for the conduct of people-friendly operations and helping civil administration of the region in improving and enhancing the quality life of people in the border areas. He also interacted and commended the women ice-hockey players at the NSD Stadium in Leh. Later, he visited the prestigious Ladakh Scouts Regimental Center, in his capacity as Colonel of the Regiment of Jammu and Kashmir Rifles and Ladakh Scouts. He also paid homage at the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre War Memorial.
