On Wednesday, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, the commander of the Northern Army, reviewed the security situation in Kashmir during a three-day trip to the valley.
“The Army Commander was briefed by Lt Gen DP Pandey, General officer Commanding Chinar Corps, on the prevalent security situation and measures instituted to counter adversaries’ design,” a defence spokesperson stated.
During his interaction with the senior officers of the Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General Dwivedi praised the effectiveness of the anti-infiltration grid along the Line of Control. On February 25, 2022, the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan will have completed its first year. The army commander praised the strict control exercised by the formation in respect of the ceasefire.
The northern army commander also paid tribute to the 40 CRPF jawans martyred in Pulwama attack three years ago. He also praised the coordination between all elements of the security forces and the civil administration.
