Following over 3,000 additional soldiers deployed to Germany and Eastern Europe in response to the Ukraine standoff with Moscow, the U.S. has announced it will not send soldiers to commence a war with Russia.
“President Joe Biden has been clear for months now that the United States is not sending forces to start a war or fight a war with Russia in Ukraine”, told National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to Fox News on Sunday.
Sullivan during the press conference said, “We have sent forces to Europe to defend NATO territory. A military escalation and invasion of Ukraine could happen at any time. We believe that the Russians have put in place the capabilities to mount a significant military operation into Ukraine, and we have been working hard to prepare a response. President Biden has rallied our allies. He’s reinforced and reassured our partners on the eastern flank; he’s offered the Russians a diplomatic path.”
While US officials have warned that the Kremlin has gathered 110,000 troops along its border with its pro-Western neighbor, intelligence assessments are not clear if the Russian president has in fact decided to invade.
