PM Modi speaks to Russian president to appeal for immediate end to conflict in Ukraine

A telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin dealt with the current situation in Ukraine. 

PMO informed, “Press Putin briefed PM about the recent developments regarding Ukraine. PM reiterated his long-standing conviction that the difference between Russia and NATO can only be resolved through honest and sincere dialogues.” 

In a statement from the PMO, Modi called for an immediate end to the violence and urged all parties to take concerted steps to re-engage in diplomatic dialogue. PM also deliberated on India’s concern about the safety of Indian nationals in Ukraine.  

Prior on Thursday, PM also chaired a meeting of the of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Home minister Amit Shah, and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.
