Militants on Saturday shot dead a policeman in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, J&K police said. Head Constable Ali Mohammad was fired upon by the militants at 5:35 pm near his residence at Hasanpora in the Bjibehara area of Anantnag, according to a police official.
The police added that head constable Mohammad was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where his condition was precarious and later, he succumbed.
The place of the incident has been cordoned off by the police and hunt to bust the assailants has begun, the official added.
