The DRDO reported that India successfully conducted its second flight test of the indigenously built Pralay missile off the coast of Odisha on Thursday. This is for the first time that DRDO developed ballistic missile have undergone successful flight tests for two consecutive days.
The missile was launched from APJ Abdul Kalam Island and it stood on all the standard criteria as per DRDO. “In today’s launch, the ‘Pralay’ missile was tested for heavier payload and different range to prove the precision and lethality of the weapon,” DRDO said in a statement.
DRDO says all the range sensors and instruments, including telemetry, radar, and electro-optic tracking systems, were monitoring the second launch from across the eastern coast and from downrange ships located near the impact point.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and other teams involved in the project for the consecutive launches of the Pralay missile. DRDO chairman Dr. G Satheesh Reddy also lauded the teams and said that the country proved its ability for the design and development in the field of defence research.
