
President Ram Nath Kovind awarded President’s Colour to the Indian Naval Aviation on Monday at INS Hansa base situated in Vasco town in Goa.
While addressing the event President Kovind said that the prompt and effective deployment of the Navy in the time of need has highlighted the country’s vision of being the preferred security partner and first responder in the Indian Ocean Region.
President Kovind is on a three-day official tour to Goa and conferred the President’s Colour to the Naval Aviation in the presence of Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh. Governor of Goa P S Shreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and others were present during the event.
The President’s Colour is the highest honour bestowed on a military unit in recognition of its extraordinary service to the country. It consists of a 36 inch by 48-inch white ensign with the national flag in the canton and the state emblem embroidered in gold at the centre. The elephant, depicting strength, is placed diagonally opposite the national flag in the canton.
