Prime Minister Modi celebrates Deepawali with soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached in Nowshera sector of the Rajouri district in Jammu on Wednesday morning to celebrate Diwali with the soldiers deployed there. Since 2014, the year when he took charge as PM, it has been an annual ritual for him to celebrate the festival of lights in the frontiers of the country.

While addressing the soldiers at Nowshera, PM lauded them for the surgical strikes that were conducted in 2016 in reply to the Uri attack. “In the surgical strike, your contribution will be remembered by the country. I was waiting anxiously for the call, didn’t want anyone to be left behind. But you came out as winners. Even after the strikes, attempts were made to disturb the peace here,” PM said the soldiers.

Nowshera sector located in the Rajouri district is located along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The PM visited Nowshera in 2019 last time in Diwali.
