Rajnath Singh lauds coast guard for ensuring maritime peace and security

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh awarded gallantry and meritorious service medals to the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) personnel at an investiture ceremony conducted in New Delhi on Saturday.

A total of 21 awards, including three President’s Tatrakshk (Coast Guard) Medals (Distinguished Service), eight Tatrakshak Medals (Gallantry), and 10 Tatrakshak Medals (Meritorious Service) were conferred during the ceremony.

ICG Director General K Natarajan and senior officers of the Ministry of Defence and the Indian Coast Guard also attended the event.

Lauding the Coast Guard, Rajnath Singh said that the ICG which began service to the nation with just four to six boats is now one of the best maritime forces in the world with over 150 ships and 66 aircraft. This ever-growing stature, he added, instills confidence among the people that the national maritime interests are under safe supervision.
