Rajnath Singh, Union Defence Minister, said on Monday that the central government would be willing to talk with militant groups of the Northeastern region for the purpose of ending violence permanently.
While addressing an election rally at Langthabal Mandal in Imphal West district of Manipur, Singh said, “terror outfits must come forward to talk with the government to resolve their problems. Violence has to be stopped permanently to undertake the developmental projects and welfare schemes for the benefit of the people. The terror violence has been largely controlled in Manipur under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.”
In addition, the Minister of Defence stated that tourism in the Northeast will be transformed into a big industry and Manipur’s development through tourism will be tremendous.
The minister later paid visit to the house of the Indian army jawan, Yumnam Kalleshor Kom, who was martyred during the Kargil War in 1999.
