Born on 1994 in a Chitwan district of Nepal, Rifleman Ram Shahi was very passionate about Indian Army. Due to his passion and zeal he joined Army at very young age of 19 years. Recruited into 1 Gorkha Rifles, which is known for its fearless soldiers. After serving for years in his parent unit, he was deputed into 32 RR and was deployed into J&K for insurgency operations.

Serving in Baramulla sector of Jammu and Kashmir region with his battalion 32 Rastriya Rifles, dealing with militants was on daily basis. Facing challenging situation and militants was regular in that area. 16th August of 2018, 32 RR got intelligence about presence of hardcore militant within the area of operation. Joining the operation with Army, CRPF and J&K police the planned and launched the operation. Reaching the target site and laying down cardan around the suspected area they challenged the terrorist. With heavy exchange of fire and bullets towards Army personals, they started the fight. However, during the gun battle, Rifleman Ram Shahi got several hit by bullets. On being taken to base hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Rifleman Ram Babu Shahi led down his life at very young age of 24 and set the great example for youth and hence was always ready for service to nation.
