During the fourth day of its invasion, the Russian army acknowledged on Sunday that there were killed and injured soldiers among its troops in Ukraine, but did not specify how many had died.
“Russia servicemen are showing courage and heroism while fulfilling combat tasks in the special military operation. Unfortunately, there are killed and injured among our comrades,” spokesperson of Moscow Army Igor Konashenkov said on state television.
Since Vladimir Putin launched Thursday’s attack, this was the first time Moscow talked about men lost in Ukraine. The spokesperson said that the Russian army would return Ukrainian prisoners of war who surrender to their families.
Asserting there were no pre-conditions to the talks, Ukraine said it had agreed to send a delegation to meet with Russians at the Belarusian border, which allowed Russian troops to cross into Ukraine.
