US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is expected to visit India in the next weeks. He is expected to discuss issues such as the Indo-Pacific region and Afghanistan with his Indian counterpart during the visit.
Government sources told ET, that Blinken’s visit would help prepare for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed bilateral visit to the US later this year.
Biden’s meeting agenda would also include Quad’s action plan. Vaccine diplomacy under the Quad has garnered much prominence since the first Quad summit was held virtually. Quad leaders are expected to meet later this year for their first in-person summit.
The situation in Afghanistan amid Taliban resurgence and Doha peace talks are expected to be covered during Blinken’s trip amid the formation of the US-led Quad for Afghan theatre.
This will be Blinken’s fourth meeting with Jaishankar. The two had earlier met in London on the sidelines of G-7 foreign ministers meet, in Italy on the sidelines of G-20 foreign ministers meet, besides when Jaishankar traveled to the US on a bilateral trip.
