Sepoy Mandeep Singh was born to Mr. Gurnam Singh and belonged to Alampur in Punjab. He was recruited into 22 Sikh of the famed Sikh Regiment known for its valiant soldiers and various battle honors. During 2017-18, Sepoy Mandeep Singh’s unit was deployed in the Poonch district of J&K along the LoC.

On 20th January 2018, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in the Krishna Ghati sector and resorted to heavy mortar shelling of various Indian Army posts and civilian areas. The Indian forces gave a befitting reply to the unprovoked firing and consequently, the exchange of fire continued for several hours. During the heavy exchange of fire Sepoy Mandeep Singh manning one of the forward posts got severely injured. He later succumbed to his injuries and was martyred.
Sepoy Mandeep Singh is survived by his parents and brother and sister.
