In November 1999, Sepoy Manoj Kumar Singh was part of the No- 1 Ghatak Team which was tasked with the destruction of the enemy post. Manoj Kumar Singh and his men charged with fury onto the enemy bunker after throwing a grenade and killed two enemy soldiers in a hand-to-hand fight. He destroyed the next bunker by pole charge and while charging into this bunker he was hit by a Rocket Propelled Grenade and was thrown off into the gorge. During the intense operation, it was declared that Manoj Kumar Singh was “Presumed dead”.
Sepoy Manoj Kumar Singh was awarded ‘Vir Chakra’ posthumously.
