With 12 years of service in the Indian Army, Sepoy Vishal Chaudhary belongs from Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh state. The fearless soldier belonged to a middle-class family and in 2004, he was recruited to 18 Jat Regiment, the Regiment with many battle honours. Years of training and experiences he was deputed into 61RR in Jammu and Kashmir for counter insurgency operations.

Always and every time Rashtriya Rifles are on high alert and this same condition on the night of 29th July of 2016 where they got the inputs of terrorists who tried to infiltrate the LoC and enter the mainland area. The area of Nowgam sector where the 61 Rashtriya Rifles men were waiting for them to enter and around 3 am they noticed the unusual movement at the borders. Sepoy Vishal was one of the team members who were tasked to eliminate them. On being challenged and surrendered, terrorists openly fired at the team. Taking hides and retaliating them with gunfire, Sepoy Vishal was hit by bullets, got injured and was bleeding severely. Even with such conditions, he managed to kill one terrorist by his combat skill. He was immediately taken to the military hospital but later he succumbed to his injury on the same day.
For his heroic act and bravery at the battle field, he was awarded the Sena Medal. His courage and dedication for country, making supreme sacrifice, this country will always honour such a great hero.
