A leading French defence major is set to produce an engine for a military platform in India as part of a joint venture with an Indian company under the strategic partnership model.
The aim of this joint venture is increasing defence cooperation between India and France. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, during his speech at an industry conclave on Saturday, referred to this decision taken by the two countries.
Rajnath Singh and his French counterpart Florence Parly held wide range of talks with prime focus on co-development and co-production of various platform on Friday.
Even though Rajnath Singh did not specify the type of engine and its intended purpose, people familiar with the project said the project would support India’s requirements for military helicopters in the coming years.
