
Top commanders of the Indian Navy will conduct a comprehensive assessment of India’s maritime security including the overall situation in the Indian Ocean Region, at a 5-day conclave beginning from Monday.
Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, army chief General MM Naravane, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari will interact will the naval commanders on a number of issues, including ways to improve tri-services synergy given the evolving regional security circumstances, officials said on Saturday.
“Due to the rapidly changing geostrategic situation of the region, the significance and importance of the conference is manifold. It is an intitutionalised platform to deliberate, direct, device, and decide on issues of utmost importance which will shape the future course of Indian Navy,” Indian Navy Spokesperson Commander Vivek Madhwal said.
During the conclave, the commanders are likely to deliberate on China’s increasing forays into the Indian Ocean and ways to maintain the Indian Navy’s dominance in the strategically significant region.
