‘Dosti’, the 15th edition of the India, Maldives, and Sri Lanka biennial trilateral exercise, is underway in the Maldives from November 20 to November 24 as part of regional security formation for peaceful and stable Indian Ocean Region.
For the exercise, the Indian Coast Guard has sent two vessels, ICGS Vajra and ICGS Apoorva, along with the Sri Lanka Coast Guard’s SLCGS Suraksha.
Trilateral Exercise ‘Dosti’ is organized by the Coast Guards of India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka with the objective of enhancing friendship, enhancing operational capabilities, exercising interoperability and building cooperation between the three nations.
In the year 1991, the Maldives Coast Guard started exercising Dosti with the Indian Coast Guard, while in the year 2012, Sri Lanka joined the exercise, and it became a trilateral exercise. The initiation of the exercise in 2021 marks its 30th anniversary.
