Two BSF soldiers killed in a brawl in south Tripura

Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed and another injured in a brawl ensuing open firing at the border in south Tripura on Thursday evening. 

Police officials informed that the incident took place at a border outpost in the Silachari area of Gomati district at around 7 pm. The incident was the result of an altercation between a constable and a havildar over duty-related matters. The constable took up his service weapon and shot the havildar dead. 

On hearing the gunshot, the company commander rushed out and tried to calm the irate constable, but the latter shot at him, too. The officer sustained injuries in his leg but survived.  

The border outpost guard, in a bid to save the officer and other personnel, opened fire at the constable, killing him.  

A police official said that fight took place between Sahid Singh and Constable Pratap Singh on some personal issue at a BSF outpost at Khagrachari in Gomati District.
