One of the two terrorists killed was identified as Sheeraz Ahmad Lone. Lone was operating since September 2016 and was the district commander of the organisation in Kulgam. He was also involved in the recruitment of many youths in the area who launched many attacks. The second militant killed was identified as Yawar Ahmad Bht, who had joined the militant ranks in March 2021.
In its statement, the Indian army explained that the killing of the militants had broken an important link between them and the network on the ground. The forces claimed to have recovered an AK rifle, a pistol, and other weaponry.
