Two Indian Navy ships to visit Mongla port in Bangladesh to mark the 50 years of 1971 Liberation War

The Year 2021 is marked as the golden jubilee (Swarnim Vijay Varsh) of the 1971 Liberation War and has been celebrated by both India and Bangladesh. As a part of this celebration, two Indian Navy ships will visit Mongla port in Bangladesh from Monday to Wednesday.  

Offshore patrol vessel Sumedha and corvette Kulish of the Indian Navy are scheduled to visit Mongla in Bangladesh for three days. This is the first time that any Indian Naval Ship is visiting the port of Mongla and it is aimed at paying tribute to the Bangladeshi and Indian combatants and citizens who laid down their lives during the Liberation War of 1971, the Navy officials said. 

On behalf of Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh, the commanding officers of the ships will call on the senior Bangladesh Navy hierarchy to reaffirm the Indian Navy’s solidarity and partnership with the Bangladesh Navy, officials further stated.
