Two Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were killed in a Naxal attack near ITBP camp Kademeta in the Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh on Friday.
The Naxals attacked the 45th battalion of the ITBP at 12:10 pm. In the attack, two soldiers, Assistant Commandant Sudhakar Shinde and Assistant Sub Inspector Gurumukh Singh, were martyred.
Shinde belonged to the Nanded district of Maharashtra and Gurumukh hailed from Rajkot in Punjab.
The Naxals fled from the spot after looting one AK-47 rifle, two bulletproof jackets, and one wireless set said Inspector General Bastar P Sundarraj.
The incident took place near the ITBP camp at Kademeta when the security personnel were engaged in combing operations. It was reported that a small action team of the Maoists took part in the attack that happened a mere 600 meters away from the ITBP camp.
