Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is holding meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel amid growing tensions with Russia.
Ukrainian President is travelling to Paris to meet his French counterpart Macron during a working lunch at the Elysee presidential palace. Both leaders will then talk via videoconference with Angela Merkel, Macron’s office said.
The meeting comes as Ukraine and the West have raised alarms in recent weeks about the amassing of troops along the Russian border by Russia, which is described as the largest since 2014.
Zelensky in an interview with a French newspaper said, “it’s time to stop talking and to make decisions.” He also said that Friday’s talk aims at discussing security issues. On Thursday, Zelensky after chairing a meeting of Ukraine’s security council said that the discussion in Paris is important for preparing the so-called “Normandy format” talks involving the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France, and Germany.
