The United States remains “fully committed” to a proposed sale of advanced F-35 stealth fighter jets to the United Arab Emirates. Biden administration has been slow in this deal of F-35 sale to UAE which was signed during Trump’s administration.
Mira Resnick, a deputy US assistant secretary of state in the Biden administration, during the Dubai Air Show told the Associated Press that Gulf Arab partners are not looking to buy weapons from Russia as a hedge over American concerns about human rights in the region.
“The F-35 is already in this region, whether it’s Israelis flying F-35, whether it’s American F-35. We would like the UAE to be able to operate the F-35 in a way that can be our security partners and to deter threats, including from Iran,” Resnick told the press.
Currently, only Israel has America’s F-35 in the Gulf region. The American official also said that the US has no concerns from Israel or other allies over the F-35 sale to the UAE.
