Top Republican lawmaker John Cornyn told the US Senate that China is engaged in a border war with India and poses an existential threat to its neighbors as a result. Cornyn recounted his trip to New Delhi and Southeast Asia to learn about challenges faced by countries in the region.
A group of Congressional colleagues led by Senator John Cornyn, who is also the co-chair of the India Caucus, just returned from a trip to India and Southeast Asia where they witnessed firsthand the challenges posed by China.
“The most urgent grave threats are against countries closer to China’s border. Last week, I had the chance to lead a congressional delegation visiting Southeast Asia to gain a better understanding of the threats and challenges in the region. China threatens freedoms of navigation in international waters, and it’s guilty of gross human rights abuses against its own people, namely the Muslim minority Uyghurs. It’s engaged in a border war with India and it threatens to invade the Republic of China, otherwise known as Taiwan,” Senator Cornyn said.
