In the backdrop of targeted killings in the Kashmir valley, a new integrated security system will very soon be included in coordination with the Indian Army and the central security agencies, according to sources.
The sources further said that J&K police will be leading in preventing attacks, coordinating with other security stakeholders and they have been asked to bolster the human intelligence gathering on the ground.
The J&K police even made a detailed presentation during a high-level security meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on October 23.
As per a government source, 24×7 electronic surveillance in volatile areas, better intelligence networks, and strong patrolling on roads and highways around the cities to prevent entry and exit of the terrorists with more barricading and placing of the security bunkers will be key features of the new security systems.
Under electronic surveillance, drone grids are being set up in those areas where the non-Kashmiris and the migrant labourers have been accommodated.
The meeting that was held on October 23 in Srinagar was attended by Intelligence Bureau chief Arvind Kumar, CRPF DG Kuldeep Singh, BSF DG Pankaj Singh, DG of National Security Guard MA Ganapathy, J&K Police DG Dilbagh Singh, Army commanders, and other officials.
