Vice Admiral R Hari to succeed Admiral Karambir Singh as Navy Chief

The Ministry of Defence announced the next chief of Naval Staff will be Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar. The senior naval officer is currently serving as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command. 

Vice Admiral R Hari will assume his charge as the new chief of naval staff on November 30 when the present chief Admiral Karambir Singh retires. 

“The government has appointed Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, presently Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command, as the next Chief of the Naval Staff with effect from the afternoon of November 30,” the defence ministry said in a statement. 

Vice Admiral R Hari has so far, a distinguished service of 39 years in which he had served in a variety of command, staff, and instructional appointments. He has commanded INS Nishank, Missile Corvette, INS Kora, and Guided Missile Destroyer INS Ranvir in his glowing career.
