The 88th battalion of the CRPF is also known as the Mahila battalion. The special fact about this battalion is that it is world’s first paramilitary force comprised entirely of women. It was commissioned on 30th March 1986. This step taken by CRPF to induct a battalion dedicated to women entirely is a perfect example of women empowerment.
