SSB was created with the objective of guarding India’s international borders with Nepal and Bhutan. Besides border security, SSB is also deployed in J&K for counter insurgency operations and anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar and also provides internal security during elections.
